As thousands of residents of Fort McMurray fear for the loss of their homes and lives to raging wildfires, people of all sorts work to help however they can. Where some see a human tragedy, others a terrible example of nature's power, some see an
opportunity for the advancement of their political agenda, and others praise this effort as much as the charity being reported.
i think it's partially that, but you'd have to be REALLY cynical to think it's 100% that ya know
ReplyDeleteOf course, nothing is 100%. There are many factors that go into deciding what stories get written and printed, but not all of them operate consciously. When moral feeling is engaged, the warm fuzzies distract the critical faculties. How can it be ideology when it feels so good?
DeleteMy point is that lots of people have helped the situation, but this particular story was written not for its own sake, but to quell other fires and praise other charity.
